陈曦的画总让我想到一个词——“素人画家”，虽然它通常用来形容那些未曾受过专业训练，却能我手写我心的绘画者。用这个概念来形容陈曦显然不合适，她习艺多年，是中国最高艺术学府中的佼佼者，毕业后顺利留校任教，三十岁以前就在学术要求极高的中央美术学院美术馆举办了个展，随后频频亮相于全国性，国际性的大展，获奖无数的同时，身上也贴上不少标签，其中广为人知的一些包括：表现性、世俗、冷眼、才气、美女等等。每一个标签都货真价实，但加起来，又仿佛不足以概括她。严格系统的专业训练确实使她能够驾轻就熟地把握表现性绘画的技巧和风格，她的天生丽质和她的天赋才华一样毋庸质疑，然而她始终漫不经心地对待着这些虽是轻易得来、含金量却绝对不低的标签。对于标签和贴标签的人，她不当真，也不会跟你急，是从心眼里没当回事。她也不给自己贴标签，不逼着自己非站在潮流的风口浪尖上或者非要与潮流划清界线。她只是自管自兴冲冲地画着，就像她一直兴冲冲地活着一样。这样一种心态，使她不同于大部分职业艺术家，得以在获得专业技能的过程里，没有牺牲掉最初拿起画笔时那种不含杂质的激情。

Naive Chen Xi

　　Chen Xi's paintings always remind me the works by "Na?ve Artists", which usually indicates those who have never received professional art training, but can always express their feeling by painting. Obviously, the term does not fit Chen Xi, who has received art training at very early years, graduated from the best art academy in China, CAFA (Central Academy of Fine Arts) to be employed as a faculty there, completed her solo exhibition in the highly academic CAFA Museum in her twenties, and participates frequently into significant domestic and international exhibitions. While being awarded numberless prizes, she has also been labeled as expressionist, mundane-caring, cold sight, talented, beauty, etc. All these labels agree to the fact in spite, she is somehow more than the total of them. Although the strict and systematic training she received makes her easily mastering the skills and style of expressionism painting, and her beauty is indubitable at all as well her talents, but she has always been negligent to these labels, which, although may seems easily achieved to her, but absolutely gilded. For the labels and those who put labels, she never takes them seriously, nor feel annoyed with-she is careless to them from the bottom of her heart. Neither does she label herself-not insisting herself at the very front of tide nor makes a clear distinction with the trend. She just paints by herself excitedly, just like she lives excitedly as always. Such a manner makes her different from most of other professional artists, who usually sacrifice the na?ve passion during the process of learning skills, while being closer to the masters.
